Still Image Analyses.

I will be talking about the Mid Shot and how it affects the scene.

I think the Mid Shot used in this scene really adds to the feeling of hopelessness of the scene. The reason I think this is more effective than shooting the scene as a close up or extreme close up is because you would only be able to tell he’s hopeless from his facial expression but you wouldn’t be able to see the evidence for yourself. As a viewer you can clearly see him in the middle of a desert, with no top, crashed vehicle and bullet holes in the side of his door so the director shows the viewer clear deliberate choices that show his desperation which you wouldn’t be able to see if they used a different shot. My point is that i think the use of the mid shot was the most effective shot because they show why he’s desperate not just telling you in his facial expression.

What a nifty widget that allows us to see your selection of still images. Interesting selection, taken from one of my favourite shows.

Your paragraph is fairly well structured. It has a clear argument and you explore the merits of other shots in comparison to the one chosen by the director. I think you are correct in your final conclusion about the purpose of the mid-shot; it gives a clear sense of the character’s desperation.

Do be careful with sentence structures and how they might hinder your tone and/or meaning if unedited.

    Keep it up!
